My First Set of Dishes
When I was age 20, I have the opportunity to study for a semester in London, England. I stayed with a very nice family in the Clapton section of South London. The family displayed their wedding dishes (China) in the kitchen, and I fell in love with the pattern. Every day at breakfast, I would look at their dishes and hoped to one day get the same pattern. I started visiting different stores, gathering information about the pattern, and eventually I purchased the pattern, Royal Doulton Sherbrooke. I didn’t want my mother to find out about my purchase because I knew she wouldn’t understand, and I would be in trouble. So, I had the store send the dishes to my college dormitory, and I kept the dishes in the wooden crate they had arrived in under my bed for the entire school year…and then I had to sneak them out!
